Healthcare is the basic necessity which many of the people of Bangladesh are deprived of. To provide the insolvent and disadvantaged people of our society with proper healthcare, consultation services, medical treatment, and medications free of cost, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation has established ‘Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro’ at Genda, Savar, Dhaka. Since inauguration in 2012, this humanitarian endeavor has been a success with the long suffering people in desperate need of medical assistance. Under the care of expert physicians and professionals, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has till date, served over 50,000 patients in need with regular checkup, healthcare, medical treatment, emergency service, at home doctoral visits for remote critical patients, and all medications free of cost.
Celebrating the determination, strength and unique talents of the children of special needs, physically or mentally challenged people, and differently abled persons among us, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro annually organizes a Daylong Program at CRP (Center for Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed) headquarter at Savar. Sharing happiness and joy through song, dance, art, games and distributing food, ecofriendly toys, gifts, and books among children, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro continues creating awareness to realize the vision of a more inclusive and progressive Bangladesh.
Each year with the commitment of sharing happiness and joy of diverse festivals and special occasions, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro organizes feasts for orphaned children, the homeless and extreme poor people of the society. Here they are also provided with financial aid, regular medical checkup and necessary treatment they require. Providing the much needed timely medical support, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has always stood beside the poor, and helpless patients as well as the disaster survivors, climate refugees, helpless widows, slum dwellers, day laborers, transport workers, garments workers, and destitute humanity throughout Bangladesh. For expecting mothers unable to travel from remote regions, yet, in dire need of medical assistance, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro also facilitates experienced midwife service to provide proper delivery services to the poverty stricken families. In addition to providing emergency service to critical patients, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro also provides operation costs for the truly needy people of the society.
Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro also provides financial aid among the helpless and ultra-poor people, donates sewing machines to extreme poor helpless widows, facilitates continuation of education for many meritorious students, donates motorized rickshaws, cycle-vans, wheelchairs to the poor, physically challenged, mobility impaired and jobless people to help them sustain a modest but steady income source. Which have aided those families to survive in society with dignity, instead of being reduced to beg for sustenance or worse.
As Bangladesh is a geographically disaster prone country, a vast portion of our population live in constant poverty as result of the recurrent ravages of natural calamities. Flood, heavy rain, cyclone, tidal bore, flash flood, draught, and river erosion, are prominent among such disasters. The marginally poor people suffer, strive and fail to overcome poverty year after year. Accordingly, healthcare becomes a luxury to them. Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has also set a unique humanitarian example by providing life-sustaining emergency food aid, relief, medical treatment, medicine as well as financial assistance to such disaster suffering humanity throughout Bangladesh.
In post-flood period, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has distributed relief aid among 2000 flood-affected people of Rangpur and Dinajpur. Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has also provided support and financial aid to disaster sufferer helpless people, living in makeshift homes, affected by erosion of Sangu River in Chattogram, to overcome the immediate shock of losing everything and once again rebuild their lives.
Every year Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro distributes blankets, winter clothing, food aid, basic protection necessities, treatment, and emergency medicines among homeless, slum dwellers and roadside people to cope with the severity of winter, and cold waves. Our coastal regions are the first to be hit by many catastrophic Cyclones like Aila, Sidr, or Bulbul. Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has provided emergency food aid, treatment, medicine and relief goods to such disaster prone areas to support their recovery.
Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has always rushed to the far corners of Bangladesh to stand beside the affected humanity during any emergency or natural crisis. During the Coronavirus pandemic period Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has continued to serve the sick and needy people with the same ardor as before.
During the Coronavirus pandemic quarantine, many remote coastal chars, villages and people of different professions like the, farmers, small shopkeepers, Mouyals (Honey Collectors), Bawal (Nipa palm Collectors), Fishermen, Boatmen, and the like had been stranded and utterly helpless with no access to daily necessities. Even in such context, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has donated emergency food aid, and relief assistance of daily necessities to those remote coastal areas. To the extreme poor, and low-income families, and jobless people quarantined in their homes, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has provided emergency relief aid, food staples, necessary medicines, sanitization materials, soaps and masks to sustain their families.
Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro has also reached out to the ultra-poor, marginalized people living by the railway lines, slums, and polytechnic area of Khulshi Police Station, Chattogram. These low income families, losing their only income source due to Coronavirus Pandemic had become destitute, leading inhumane lives. Here, more than 1500 afflicted families have been given humanitarian assistance to help them sustain the pandemic quarantine.
People are the lifeblood of any nation. Only when the people are aided in their most vulnerable moments of crisis, can they work to build a greater community, better future. As such, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro is committed to ensuring continued healthcare, proper treatment, medical support and humanitarian aid to the suffering people in need, in the days to come. To that end, Prokriti O Jibon Shastho Sheba Kendro will continue these diverse social welfare activities and strive to build a ‘Better Life in Balanced Nature’ for all.
