Amidst the Coronavirus Pandemic POJF has facilitated a nationwide Awareness Raising Campaign to battle the devastations of coronavirus. Under the Coronavirus Awareness Campaign POJF has conducted Free Medical Camps in the worst pandemic affected remote areas of the country. To raise awareness among every citizen of the country POJF has designed, developed and telecast animated coronavirus awareness TVC, special coronavirus awareness raising animation show for children, RDC. To show respect and gratitude to the strength and dedication of the heroic ‘Frontline Heroes’ fighting amidst the pandemic, POJF has called for and organized clapping sessions, telecast on Channel i. Here, people from all over Bangladesh, and abroad irrespective of their profession, age, religion, status, or social strata have come forward to give thanks to the heroic COVID Warriors of the world, who have become inspiration to us all.

The campaign also includes designing, publishing, and distributing Print Awareness Raising materials like, Newspaper Ads, Poster, Banner, and Billboard. Under this campaign POJF also designed, published and performed a Pot Song titled “Soap Saves Lives” to spread awareness to even the remote corners of Bangladesh. To deliver the message of consciousness to prevent transmission of the lethal Coronavirus, POJF also designed, developed and broadcast Coronavirus awareness raising Radio message, TV Scroll, TV Spots, which were telecasted via radio and satellite TV channels to reach people of every sphere of the society.

CAMPAIGN AGAINST PLASTIC POLLUTION

To restore the health of water bodies from the scourge of plastic pollution and ensure safe and productive waters, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation joined hands with the European Union in (EU) Bangladesh, European Ambassadors and Gulshan Society in a massive symbolic global cleanup program. Here participants, including the POJF Chairman, Muqeed Majumdar Babu and officials of POJF, Ambassador & Head of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, Ambassador of Italy and Ambassador of Denmark, Gulshan Society, and volunteers in inspiring the mass people to join the revolution against plastic pollution, collected plastic refuse in large jute sacs and worked to raise awareness on importance of limiting the usage of single-use plastic products, which ultimately cause detrimental damage in forms of microplastic and pollute environment.

Upholding the River’s rights as living entities, ordained by the High Court of Bangladesh in February, 2019, this symbolic initiative was a call towards the whole nation to fight for the health of the Rivers of Bangladesh. As many of the rivers are almost on the verge of death, being critically polluted with untreated industrial waste and plastic. POJF through this program invites the citizens of Bangladesh to take immediate action in saving rivers and waterbodies of Bangladesh. Through such hands-on commitment for stopping plastic pollution and conserving the health of waterbodies and overall climate, and environment, this initiative serves to encourage the society and children for a culture of conscious living, proper waste management, recycling, and stopping plastic pollution.

REDUCING DIETARY RELATED RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES IN BANGLADESH

To raise awareness on reducing dietary related risks and creating nutritious food habit among the mass people, POJF conducted the project to produce and telecast 16 Episodes Cooking Show “Banglar Shobji O Pushti”, under the Program Reducing Dietary Related Risks Associated with Non-Communicable Diseases in Bangladesh by CNRS (Center for Natural Resource Studies). Under the project POJF designed and produced a 16 Episode Cooking Show featuring celebrity chefs prioritizing traditional cooking with nutritional ingredients and healthier cooking style to reach the common people with the message of nutritional eating habits to avoid dietary related non communicable diseases. The Cooking Show was telecasted on satellite channel, Channel i to specially motivate healthier eating, creating awareness on the necessity of maintaining a nutritious diet for healthier life.

POPULARIZING OF ECO-FRIENDLY BONDHU CHULA TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSION

Bangladesh is a third world developing country with extremely high density of population, poverty and illiteracy. Along with these, Bangladesh is one of the frontline victims of accelerated global warming. In the face of all these difficulties, Bangladesh is still a beautiful country with rich natural resources. But awareness on health and safety issues, sustainable use of resources and greener lifestyle, among the mass people, is prerequisite to maintain the beauty and habitability of the country. In this context, use of Bondhu Chula is a vital step, among many initiatives taken by the Government and many other organizations, towards a sustainable approach to the everyday life of the people of Bangladesh. This Programs helped to serve development of knowledge and raise awareness of the people of Bangladesh to understand Bondhu Chula, its advantages, its impacts on their lives & livelihoods in general and more specifically toward sensitizing and motivating them to consider and practice adapting to use Bondhu Chula in their sphere of life.

PROPER FECAL SLUDGE MANAGEMENT, BETTER HEALTH, AND SAFE LIFE PROJECT

Proper management of fecal sludge is essential for the quality of any environment, especially in the densely populated urban environment of the large cities like Dhaka. In urban landscapes, sanitation and proper management of fecal sludge has been a critical issue which has had severe negative impact on the city’s waterbodies, as well as the health of the city dwellers. To ensure proper sanitation, safe health, proper management of fecal sludge as well as conservation of the natural balance of our ecosystems and the environment, POJF has conducted the Proper Fecal Sludge Management, Better Health, and Safe Life Project. This project included several works including: conducting Training, AVC production and telecasting, and creating awareness among the mass people on the importance of Fecal Sludge Management.

SCALING UP INCLUSIVE DAIRY MARKETS PROJECT UNDER REE CALL FRAMEWORK

Among the rural households of Bangladesh women play a vital role in unpaid care work and the maintenance of their family. Many of them, being agricultural farmers, poultry farmers, vegetable farmers, cottage industry workers, artisans, and so on, can also contribute to the economic prosperity of their family. However, lacking education and social support, their contributions are often disregarded and undervalued. Inclusive Dairy Markets is such a project that provides the opportunity to such rural women Dairy Farmers to reach the marketplace and get proper value for their effort, while contributing to national development. Under the Project “Scaling up Inclusive Dairy Markets Project under REE CALL framework”, POJF has worked at 3 project sites – Gaibandha, Kurigram, and Jamalpur to capture and edit high resolution Photographs to create a Pictorial Documentation for awareness campaign on Scaling up Inclusive Dairy Markets Project under REE CALL framework to benefit the women farmers involved in Dairy business and other such future prospective farmers.

WASTE TO ENERGY PROJECT – PRODUCING BIOGAS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND POVERTY REDUCTION IN BAGERHAT

People from many rural areas of Bangladesh use firewood, biomass or expensive LPG gas cylinders to facilitate their daily cooking as they lack household cooking gas supply. POJF in association with Practical Action in project ‘Waste to Energy in Bagerhat’ has worked to conduct field research, design and create video documentation to disseminate knowledge on ways of generating energy from municipal kitchen waste, its impact in their lives and livelihood, motivations for proper waste management practices for safe life and safe environment in association with the Municipality members, local people, other local NGOs. This project included conducting field research to design, produce and telecast Video Documentary on Project Waste to Energy to portray real context in Bagerhat. The production plays a vital role in creating awareness among the mass people on the importance of proper eco-friendly waste Management as well as use of eco-friendly energy sources for achieving sustainable development.
