The world’s climate is changing. The temperature is rising for different reasons. Throughout the world we are facing various environmental problems like sea level rise, tsunami, flood, drought and so on. Human activities are mostly responsible for these problems. Excessive deforestation for firewood, timber and housing; using chemical fertilizers and insecticides for increasing productivity of crops; throwing out untreated industrial wastes to the waterbodies etc. are continuously threatening our biodiversity, climate and nature.

The situation needs to be changed as soon as possible. We have to think of our future generation. To make a green planet for us, we need to protect and conserve nature, the environment as well as biodiversity. The sustainable use of natural resources and eco-friendly technology can be the principal way of conservation. Only our collective efforts can save this planet from destruction. So, to make a better world for our descendants we should start working right now.

With this in mind, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation (Nature and Life Foundation) was founded in 2009 with the slogan “Better Life in Balanced Nature”, to create awareness regarding biodiversity, ecosystem, environment, nature and climate change adaptation and mitigation among the mass people and hence to encourage sustainable development. The foundation specializes in research (ranging from ecosystem to species level); nature related publications (e.g. DVDs, Pen drives, Books, Magazines, Calendars, Leaflets etc.) and video documentaries on wildlife, natural resources, eco-friendly products, flora and fauna, environmental issues, climate change adaptation & mitigation and so forth. We are working with Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bangladesh Forest Department, Department of Environment, Bangladesh Climate Change Trust, National Human Rights Commission of Bangladesh, the World Bank, IUCN, UNDP, USAID, Concern Worldwide, OXFAM, GIZ, Plan International, Save the Children, Practical Action, Turtle Survival Alliance, Vienna Zoo, DSK, CNRS, Shobujer Obhijan Foundation, SAVE, Bangladesh Bird Club, SEEP, and a number of other national and international organizations.

As part of our conservation efforts, we are producing the first ever research-based Television series of its kind in the country, named “Prokriti O Jibon”, featuring biodiversity, environment and nature of Bangladesh. To build awareness regarding various contemporary environmental & natural issues, we are organizing various TV Talk Shows to convey conservation messages to mass people of the country. We are publishing environment and nature related Books, DVDs, Magazine, Leaflets, Calendar etc. and distributing those among various research & academic institutions, government and non-government organizations to spread the message for conservation to every corner of the country.

From Prokriti O Jibon Foundation we are organizing School programs to connect the young generation with conservation activities. Together with other organizations, we are annually organizing Nature Fair, Butterfly Fair, and Migratory Waterbird Census to build public awareness. We are also conferring the ‘Nature Conservation Award’ every year to encourage dedication for the conservation initiative, to build a better, brighter world for all.
