Butterflies are the natural indicators and connectors of a thriving ecosystem. As the second most productive pollinators in nature, we need to be aware of the importance of their presence in maintaining a balanced natural cycle. To showcase the beauty and ecological importance of the diverse Butterfly species of Bangladesh, POJF organizes ‘Butterfly Fair’ every year, in association with the Department of Zoology, Jahangirnagar University at JU Campus. The Butterfly Fair helps attract people to the conservation of butterflies.
To create understanding on the necessity of Butterfly research, conservation, and maintaining a healthy butterfly population to ensure the health of any ecosystem, POJF has also contributed to establish the Butterfly Park and Research Center in Jahangirnagar University campus. The Butterfly Park and Research Center works to conserve the rare, threatened, as well as other butterfly species of Bangladesh. It operates to rear, research, document, and conserve the Butterfly. Till date, the Butterfly Park and Research Center researchers have become successful in reintroducing some critically endangered butterfly species to nature, which is a great step towards ensuring a balanced ecosystem for us all.
