July 29 marks International Tiger Day, and Bangladesh remains one of the few countries still home to tigers. The tiger, our national animal, now survives only in the Sundarbans, its last habitat in the country. Encouragingly, tiger numbers have risen from 106 in 2015 to 125 in 2024, though poaching, deforestation, and illegal wildlife trade still threaten its survival. Without the tiger, the Sundarbans cannot be sustained; without the Sundarbans, Bangladesh’s coastline cannot be protected.
To build civic awareness for tiger and Sundarbans conservation, the POJF is organizing Pantonix Tiger Run Dhaka 2026, a 7.5-km mini marathon. The event takes place on Saturday, 25 July 2026, at 5:30 a.m., at Hatirjheel, Dhaka, drawing an expected 1,600 participants, with awareness activities and cultural performances alongside the run. The morning begins with assembly and warm-up at 5:00 a.m., the run itself at 5:30 a.m., guest speeches and a prize-giving ceremony at 7:00 a.m., and a raffle draw and closing at 7:30 a.m.
Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited is the Title Sponsor, with Channel i as Media Partner, and Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre, The Palace Luxury Resort, and Universal Medical College Hospital among the many other sponsors and partners supporting the event.
Every participant receives a finisher’s medal, T-shirt, cap, backpack, mug, water bottle, and certificate. In both the men’s and women’s categories, the champion wins BDT 50,000, the first runner-up BDT 30,000, and the second runner-up BDT 20,000, with fourteen more winners placing fourth through tenth receiving BDT 5,000 each.
A bib-number-based raffle draw offers further prizes for participants present at the venue, including return air tickets from Biman Bangladesh Airlines to Kathmandu and Cox’s Bazar, resort stays at The Palace Luxury Resort, dining and stay packages at Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre, and cruise dinners with Dhaka Dinner Cruise.
