The Independence Award, Bangladesh’s highest civilian honor, was presented in 2026 to recognize outstanding national contributions. Bir Muktijoddha Muqeed Majumdar Babu, Chairman of Prokriti O Jibon Foundation and Vice Chairman of Impress Group, received the award for environmental conservation. The ceremony was held on April 16 at Osmani Memorial Auditorium, where the Prime Minister formally handed over the awards. His recognition marks a significant milestone, as environmental contributions were highlighted at this level. A total of 15 individuals and 5 institutions were honored. The award includes an 18-carat gold medal, a replica, a certificate, and a monetary prize.
