Poverty has been identified as one of the major causes for resource degradation. POJF recognizes the issue and believes that resources are better managed when the socio-economic conditions of the local people are better. POJF, therefore, gives emphasis on the poverty alleviation and undertakes programs to provide alternate eco-friendly sources for income generation activities for the local poor people. Enhancing awareness among the poor households as units, POJF works towards building adaptability, resourcefulness, and resilience to combat and cope with adverse climate change impacts and natural disasters. Empowering the women at grassroots level with vital information, capacity building training and knowledge on alternative livelihood generating opportunities, POJF enables the marginal population in many disaster prone areas of the country, especially the coastal region of Bangladesh, to take leadership, address economic disparity and find sustainable means to defeat extreme poverty.
