CAMPAIGN AGAINST PLASTIC POLLUTION

To restore the health of water bodies from the scourge of plastic pollution and ensure safe and productive waters, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation joined hands with the European Union in (EU) Bangladesh, European Ambassadors and Gulshan Society in a massive symbolic global cleanup program. Here participants, including the POJF Chairman, Muqeed Majumdar Babu and officials of POJF, Ambassador & Head of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, Ambassador of Italy and Ambassador of Denmark, Gulshan Society, and volunteers in inspiring the mass people to join the revolution against plastic pollution, collected plastic refuse in large jute sacs and worked to raise awareness on importance of limiting the usage of single-use plastic products, which ultimately cause detrimental damage in forms of microplastic and pollute environment.

Upholding the River’s rights as living entities, ordained by the High Court of Bangladesh in February, 2019, this symbolic initiative was a call towards the whole nation to fight for the health of the Rivers of Bangladesh. As many of the rivers are almost on the verge of death, being critically polluted with untreated industrial waste and plastic. POJF through this program invites the citizens of Bangladesh to take immediate action in saving rivers and waterbodies of Bangladesh. Through such hands-on commitment for stopping plastic pollution and conserving the health of waterbodies and overall climate, and environment, this initiative serves to encourage the society and children for a culture of conscious living, proper waste management, recycling, and stopping plastic pollution.
