In 2011, for the very first time in the history of Bangladesh, the Nature Conservation Award was awarded to Eminent Botanist, Professor Dwijen Sharma in appreciation of his significant and inspiring contribution in conservation of nature and natural resources of Bangladesh. He was an editor and translator of the Asiatic Society’s Banglapedia Project. He wrote numerous articles in various national newspapers and magazines to make people aware of nature and the environment. Professor Dwijen Sharma is the author of more than 30 books.
